Generation Alpha: The Digital Kids Who Will Become the Architects of Tomorrow
I recently came across a book about generational theory, and it really got me. In short, the authors explain how the era we were born in shapes our values, habits, and even our approach to work. After reading it, I realized that if you want to understand how to build a business or just get along with people, you need to take these differences into account. Especially now, when representatives of Generation Z are coming to the forefront. These are the very young employees who have recently started coming to companies. And you know what? The future belongs to them.
Why? They are different. Not better, not worse, they just have their own characteristics that turn the usual view of work upside down. For them, work is not just a means of subsistence, but a part of self-expression. This generation grew up in the era of social networks, likes, and instant feedback. It is important for them to be in a team, but not for the sake of formal unification, but for the sake of sincere emotions and joint creativity.
They are not afraid to ask questions, do not tolerate boredom and quickly change course if they see that the path does not lead to the goal. They do not need to sit at work from bell to bell — they prefer the result, not the process for the sake of the process. And if you think that this is laziness or frivolity, take a closer look. In fact, it is incredible adaptability and willingness to look for new paths.
But the most interesting thing is not Z. They are just paving the way. They are followed by the Alpha generation, children born after 2010. While they are still growing, we can already guess what they will become. This is a generation that has been surrounded by screens, technology and smart devices since birth. If Zs have learned to adapt to the digital world, then Alpha will live in it organically, like fish in water.
They will not have to learn technology — they will create it. These are the children who will become the first real "digital natives". They will communicate with artificial intelligence, control robots and, perhaps, perceive the concept of work in a completely different way. It is quite possible that Alpha will be more concerned with interactions rather than results or processes. This generation will most likely strive for harmony between the digital and physical worlds, for conscious consumption and ecological solutions.
