SEC against Uniswap… or against all crypto business?
The SEC is fundamentally not going to stop legal attacks against the crypto business. Now Uniswap Labs - developer of the decentralized Uniswap protocol is selected as a new target.
The Uniswap protocol has become the basis of a decentralized exchange, providing access to crypto-token trading.
The accusations of the SEC are not new and original. Uniswap assumes that it is traditionally about illegal trading of securities.
Frankly, it is not clear why the SEC continues to use the same accusations all the time. The litigation with Coinbase and Ripple has shown that the prospects for the Commission’s victory are uncertain. Then why are these actions necessary? It seems that the head of the SEC Gensler for reasons of principle does everything to complicate the work of crypto-companies.
Uniswap is not going to give up without a fight. The company stated that it had fully developed a defense position and was ready for trial. The Uniswap protocol is completely decentralized, so it is technologically and ideologically close to Bitcoin.
It looks like we’re about to have another legal epic. However, if in the past the trials caused abrupt jumps in the exchanges, now the crypto community will no longer be so energetic to the Commission’s actions. Such information interventions are no longer relevant compared to Bitcoin-ETF.
It should be noted that a year ago, most crypto companies preferred not to get involved with the SEC and agreed to pay fines in exchange for a quiet life. However, after the defeat of Coinbase and Ripple, the SEC no longer looks like a formidable and invincible force, and the resistance in the courts will only increase.
And it’s a good thing the crypto business grew teeth and could stand up for itself. This means that for the SEC the period of quick and easy wins is over, and now they have to work seriously.
