AIs Are Ready to Work for Less Than $1 Per Hour and Have Encyclopedic Knowledge

Recently Vitally Buterin made a comprehensive analysis of prospects for interaction between blockchain and artificial intelligence. The relevance of this topic is off the charts - cryptocurrencies and AI are two of the most dynamically developing areas of information technology in recent years.

Vitaly examined the prospects for using artificial intelligence technologies in blockchains and cryptosystems. He identified four main categories of such applications:

• AI as a player (in decentralized systems and blockchain-based games).

• AI as an interface for users of crypto applications.

• AI as part of rules and governance mechanisms in decentralized systems.

• Creation of completely decentralized AI systems based on blockchain.

For each category, specific examples are given in the form of existing or promising projects, and the advantages and main difficulties of technical implementation are discussed.

Particular attention is paid to the problem of “adversarial machine learning” - attacks on AI by selecting specially created examples. Vitaly tried to prove that this threat is difficult to mitigate both in the case of closed and open AI models.

Overall, Vitalik Buterin demonstrated a deep understanding of both machine learning technologies and blockchain features. However, there are diagrams throughout the post that explain certain concepts, then additional visual elements could further enhance understanding of complex topics.

P.S. About ten years ago the question “Where is the connection between cryptography and AI?” sounded fantastic. Back then I was already trying to find an answer, but only empty talks were going on.

But now, with the advent of advanced machine learning models, such as large language models (LLMs), and new crypto technologies like ZKPs and FHE, it has become more interesting.

Suddenly it turned out that these concepts can be combined. I was honestly surprised. Previously there was pure skepticism, but now I see that there are prospects.
