Sam Bankman-Fried Swapped a Profitable Trading Strategy for Fish in Prison
The founder of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange, Sam Bankman-Fried, showed an unusual adaptation - in prison conditions, where fish became the new currency after the ban on cigarettes, Bankman-Fried, known for his trading experience, took up a profitable business. Sam uses the fish as payment.
Paying in fish became popular among prisoners after cigarettes were banned in federal prisons in 2004. According to the Wall Street Journal, prison adviser Bill Baroni confirmed that fish is a more stable currency than cryptocurrency. And Sam prefers to pay for services in fish rather than in crypto.
Let us remind you that the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit previously rejected the decision to release Sam on bail - this was the last attempt to file an appeal. Bankman-Fried is currently awaiting sentencing, scheduled for March 28, 2024.
